The best way to find out if we have tutors available in your area is to contact us.
The first step is to contact us to ensure we have tutors available in your area which cover the subject content your child requires. We will send you profile information about the potential tutors for you to choose. Once you have chosen your preferred tutor, we will arrange a time for them to come to your home and meet with you and your child for an initial assessment where they will provide you with recommendations for a tuition program to continue. If you would like to continue with the program, we will officially enrol your child in Top of the Class which also entitles you to access all our parent resources.
Fees differ depending on the tutors, qualifications, experience and how far they have to travel. Whilst there are 'cheap' tutors out there, you do tend to get what you pay for. All our tutors are hand-picked as the best at what they do. In addition to having a teaching background and being hand picked as the best in the industry, all our tutors also receive specialist training by our company and follow strict guidelines that are stipulated by our professional standards. In any industry, whether it's products or services, there will always be those that are cheap, and those that are good. Our company provides a service specifically tailored to parents who understand the importance of a good education, and place a high value on their children’s future. This is why we provide a range of parent support services in addition to private tuition.
Regardless of their background, qualifications or past experience, we hand pick our tutors according to their ability to communicate effectively. Having a dozen university degrees and 50 years’ experience is no benefit to being a school student’s tutor without the ability to communicate effectively and motivate young people. These abilities are our number one criteria. Experience in teaching, training, coaching and leading young people is desirable however without proving to us that you can motivate someone by effective communication and understanding the fundamentals of how to apply effective constructivist teaching styles - forget it! (By law, all tutors are required to pass a Working with Children Check of course).
Some of our tutors are or have been classroom teachers. Some are student teachers in training; others are university students with proven knowledge in a particular subject discipline. By law, pay rates will be affected by these aspects, however it is a myth that being a classroom school teacher automatically qualifies someone to be a better tutor. Tutoring is a very different style of teaching to group classes. All our tutors receive training in how to tutor according to our expected formula, style and philosophies in constructivist teaching and motivational coaching.
Your child has their own individual needs and their own individual expectations. We work with you, your child and your child's teachers to ensure that those needs are met and their expectations are exceeded. Our one-on-one approach places your son or daughter at the centre of their own private tuition program, with you as chief advisor. By placing your child at the centre of our structured support program, it allows your private tutor to:
Communicate with your child's school teacher(s) to structure tuition specific to their class work.
Personally tailor their tutoring methods around your child's individual learning styles.
Construct deeper understanding of school topics by building on existing knowledge.
Develop coaching strategies to utilize and maximise your child's personal strengths.
Include resources and activities to engage your child's own personal interests.
Plan achivable goals according to your child's own level of confidence.
Gradually uncover and expand on your child's full potential for excellence.
When you contact us, we'll have a chat about your child's circumstances (year level, subjects etc), we'll talk about your goals for them and any concerns you'd like us to address. We will then use this information to match you up with the best tutor in the Sydney area, who will come out to your home and provide you with an obligation-free private tutoring assessment at a time that suits you. If you'd prefer not to continue with tutoring after that point, then there's no obligation to do anything else. Private tutoring should be more than just 'teaching'. Good private tutors provide teaching, as well as coaching, mentoring, motivation and inspiration.
