Around 50,000 Victorian students complete the VCE each year. Only 10% achieve an ATAR above 90. The VCE is highly competitive — and study scores are the currency that separates students. Each subject generates a study score out of 50, scaled and combined to produce an ATAR. A student with a raw study score of 35 gets scaled up or down depending on the subject's difficulty rating. Understanding how this works — and which subjects offer the best scaling advantage — is something few families know without help.

VCE tutors do more than teach content. They teach to the VCAA study design — the specific document that defines exactly what's examinable. They prepare students for SACs (School-Assessed Coursework) — the internal assessments that contribute to the final study score. They build exam technique for the end-of-year written exams.

Year 11 (Unit 1/2) is the ideal time to begin VCE tutoring. Unit 1/2 results don't count toward your ATAR, but the content is directly relevant to Unit 3/4 — and students who build strong understanding in Year 11 have a significant advantage in Year 12.

By Unit 3 (first semester of Year 12), the focus shifts to SAC preparation and deep content mastery. In Unit 4 (second semester), intensive exam preparation takes over — past papers, exam technique, and targeted revision of weak areas in the VCAA study design.
